Fulbright College celebrates more than 300 bachelor's degrees awarded during Fall 2023
More than 300 undergraduate students earned bachelor's degrees during the fall 2023 term in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas. These graduates were celebrated on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023, at commencement ceremonies in Bud Walton Arena. These undergraduate students earned their degrees in areas of study that span across one of four academic disciplines in Fulbright College: fine arts, humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences. "On behalf of our faculty, staff, and the entire U of A community, we offer you a big congratulations - you did it," said Kathryn Sloan, interim dean of Fulbright College. "You survived the late-night study sessions, the group projects, the times of uncertainty, and so much more to reach this milestone." Videos of the live-streamed commencement ceremonies are also available on the U of A's YouTube channel. Printed program books were handed out to graduates and are available online.

Local students elected to State Senate, House at Arkansas Boys State 2023
Students were elected by their peers to the State Senate and State House of Representatives on Tuesday, May 30, as part of the 82nd annual session of Arkansas Boys State, where students build a mock government structure, including eight different congressional districts each with three senators and 10 representatives. More than 470 of the state's brightest young men are attending Arkansas Boys State, an immersive leadership and civic engagement experience sponsored by the American Legion. This summer's 82nd annual session runs May 28 through June 2 at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway. During their week at Arkansas Boys State, these students, known as "delegates," are assigned a political party, city, and county. Throughout the week, delegates, from the ground up, administer this mock government as if it were real: they run for office, draft and pass legislation, solve municipal challenges, and engage constituents. By the week's end, the delegates have experienced civic responsibility and engagement firsthand while making life-long memories and friends.
